1. When should I buy my dress?
We recommend buying a dress 9-12 months out from your big day. Dresses take 4-5 months to arrive and 1-2 months for fittings with the seamstress to make it just perfect!
2. Is this dress white?
A fun fact is that all of the gowns in our store are actually in ivory (except for one which helps to show our brides the contrast!) Ivory is a beautiful, soft, and classic bridal white. We also have gowns available in a different combination of ivory to emphasize dress details and applique including champagne, mocha, blush and much more!
3. Do I need to bring shoes?
You don’t need shore for your try on! Shoes are important when you begin the alteration process with your seamstress. However, if you are planning to wear heels, it isn’t a bad idea to bring them along to show the skirt proportion because you will need less of a hem. If you are wearing flats or a low heel it isn’t necessary to bring them along. It is your choice though if you’d like to bring shoes!
4. What sizes are your samples?
In our VOW’s bridal shop here in Blarney Business Park, Cork, we have samples in sizes between a UK 4 and 30 depending on the shape of the gown.
No matter what dress size you are, we can pin and clip the sample to fit you so you know how it feels when it is made to your size.
5. Do I need to book an appointment?
Yes, we offer 1-hour and 30 minutes personal appointment to help discover and explore what works for you. Our experienced Bridal Consultants will be able to pick out gowns from our collections so the more information you share with us, the better we can understand your needs. We love the challenge of finding the perfect gown for our Brides, that is what drives us!
6. Will I be charged for appointment?
Appointments are free but we take card details as a way of securing your appointment. Your card will not be charged; however, we ask that if you need to cancel or reschedule your appointment you do so with 48hrs notice. We operate a 48-hour cancellation policy to ensure we can offer the appointment to our waiting list. There is a charge of 40 euro for failure to cancel on time.
7. How many people can I bring?
Currently, we are allowing 3 guests per bride because of COVID restriction.
8. What is your price range?
We offer different styles and designer gowns from 1000 euro to 5500 euro. We have a huge collection of styles of ready-to-buy sample gowns you can purchase and can take away with you on the day. Please email us at info@vows.ie
9. Can we come in early and browse before my appointment starts?
We kindly ask that you come as close to your appointment time as possible. We will be deep cleaning the store and gowns in between each appointment to make sure the boutique is safe and clean for your appointment.
10. Can I bring a pram or young children?
For the safety of your child, our team, and yourself we ask that you do not bring babies or children at this time.
11. Will there be other appointments in the store?
Brides will have their own private level of the store for themselves, their guests, and one bridal consultant. There may be another appointment on the other level.
12. Can I take photos?
If it will help you to better decide upon the right dress we will allow photographs of your favourite dresses.
13. Can I just pop in and browse anytime?
At each appointment, we offer an in-depth personal styling and advice service, as well as helping brides to dress into the gowns. Therefore, by-appointment is paramount to ensure that all our brides are given full undivided attention.
If you would like to browse before booking a full appointment, simply send us an email or give us a call, we can discuss your needs with you and arrange a suitable time.
14. Do I need to bring anything like shoes and special underwear?
We encourage you to bring your own if that will help you to see the gowns properly.
Backless or Strapless bras are most helpful but not essential. Stick-on cups or low back basques are also useful to wear to ensure you are comfortable and could provide good support for your actual Wedding day. Also, it is helpful to bring pictures of gowns you have seen on blogs or websites, or you have tried on elsewhere.
Most importantly come with an open mind! It is quite usual for customers to find THE ONE during their first visit to Vows!
15. How long will my dress take to come in?
Dresses take approximately 4-6 months to come in from the designer.
16. How long will my veil take to come in?
Veils – and most accessories – can take anywhere from 2 weeks to 4 months depending on the designer. It is best to order your dress and accessories at the same time.
17. Do you do alterations on site?
We do not do alterations on-site but we have two fabulous, local seamstress professionals that handle our bridal gowns. You will have a private fitting in their studios they are renting in the same building. They are amazing!
18. Do you clean and preserve gowns?
Yes, we can take care of this for you after your wedding! Just contact us after our wedding and we will take care of it – dress and veil included!
19. Can I add or remove sleeves to my dress?
You may be able to add or remove sleeves on a dress-by-dress basis. Depending on the dress, your consultant will give you the best advice for the ability to customize a dress and and or remove sleeves, which would happen during alterations.
